Key activity since January 2025

  • Jointly hosted the first Southend SEND Information Day with Southend SEND Independent Forum (SSIF) in November. 55 teams and organisations from within Southend-on-Sea City Council and the local community hosted stalls, and colleagues and partners presented information talks. Event was attended by around 150 parent carers and professionals and received positive feedback, particularly around the benefit of having so many services all under one roof at the same time.
  • Continued to add to the suite of SEND Routemaps (taking the total to 13).
  • Supported SSIF with the delivery of 3 seminars, and 11 SSIF Coffee and Chat sessions.
  • Delivered 11 SEND Surgeries, with dates and venues organised for 2026 surgeries.
  • Commenced a Local Offer co-production project with SAVS Parent Voice Ambassadors, which includes developing a series of early years video podcasts. This is a new form of communications for us.
  • Continued to build the SEND Network and increased membership, enabling sharing of information between and with local support organisations, and providing updates for members at termly meetings.
  • Continued development of the SEND Newsletter.
  • Continued development of the look and feel of the SEND Local Offer website content
  • Worked closely with the Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) Advisor, developing 2 PFA routemaps and new PFA content for the Local Offer.
  • Developed and published videos to promote support available from the Local Offer Team, SEND Surgeries and the SEND Information Day (links to videos here).
  • Supported Southend-on-Sea City Council Teams with communications work and social media and marketing
  • More visible promotion of the SEND Local Offer and SEND Surgeries in public areas through banners displayed at parks across the City.
