Once a child goes missing it has to be reported to the police by the parent or carer. Once the child is found the police will send a copy of the Found Report to the Missing Children Team.
The Missing persons practitioner will arrange a home visit, with the aim of finding out about the child's missing experience and any safeguarding issues that may arise from the interview. If the interview establishes any child to be in need or if any family intervention is required, a further referral may be made to other services. If relevant, the practitioner will communicate and update other professionals involved with the family.
