Responses from the Local Offer website survey

10 people completed the survey in 2024. 7 were the parent carer of a child or young person with SEND, 2 were professionals and 1 was a grandparent. 60% had used the Local Offer before, 30% hadn't and 10% didn't know if they had or hadn't.

Reasons for visiting the Local Offer – what people were looking for:

  • Things to do with my family
  • Little Heroes stay and play
  • Information about help for my son at school
  • Social activities or school holiday activities
  • support groups for parents and ND groups/sessions for children
  • To see what advice and support was available for a family of a SEND Young person I supported today who is awaiting EHCNA
  • Generally looking for information – no specific topic given

20% of people found what they were looking for. 20% didn't find what they were looking. 30% partly found what they were looking for and 30% weren't looking for anything in particular.

What people told us they couldn't find:

  • Suitable activities
  • Advice on EHCP processes and who to contact when unhappy with LA responses

20% of people rated the quality of information on the Local Offer as very good. 40% said it was good. 30% said it was poor and 10% said they were not familiar enough to comment. 20% said it was easy to find information, 30% said it was fairly easy, 20% said some things were easy to find, 10% said it was difficult to find information and 20% said they weren't familiar enough to comment. 10% said the design of the Local Offer was very good, 40% said it was good, 20% OK, 10% poor, 10% very poor and 10% weren't familiar enough to comment.

Comments about the quality of information:

  • There were a range of activities
  • It's hard to navigate and find what you want without trawling through hundreds
  • I was unaware of the Local Offer
  • I think most information is probably there somewhere, but I wasn't able to easily find it

Comments about design:

  • Just not easy
  • It was laid out sensibly
  • Education support page – I can’t imagine any families with English as an additional language would be able to understand or navigate this page. How do they know the difference between support for “some” children and a “few” children.
  • I used the search tool. Not sure how clear this is for families if they don't know what they are looking for though.

How can we make the Local Offer better?:

  • Make it more available – I know nothing about this.

30% said they felt very satisfied with their visit to the website, 20% were satisfied, 20% were neither satisfied or dissatisfied and 30% were dissatisfied. 70% said they would use the Local Offer again and 30% were not sure. 60% would definitely recommend it to someone else, 30% would possibly recommend it and 10% said they wouldn't because it was difficult to find activities.

In 2024:

Your Local Offer Your Way sessions

Your Local Offer, Your Way sessions are held half termly. The meetings provide parent carers, children and young people and professionals with an opportunity to tell us what information they need on the Local Offer, and how it is presented. A daytime face to face and an evening online session are provided every half term to widen accessibility. During 2024, sessions had 15 attendees in total.

Sessions have led to useful discussions with some specific suggestions on information to be added and changes to be made to the way it is presented to make it more user friendly. We have already made some changes as a result of the feedback received, with some other changes still to be made. We also were able to support parent carers attending sessions with information requests about local services and processes.
