Key activity since January 2024

  • Development of SEND Routemaps. This was a key action in the SEND Strategic Action Plan. Routemaps are visual guides designed to help parent carers navigate key processes. View the current suite of routemaps.
  • Supported SSIF with the delivery of 5 seminars, and 11 SSIF coffee mornings.
  • The Local Offer team delivered 11 SEND Surgeries.
  • Supported the Home to School Travel Assistance consultation, including helping with the development of materials, planning engagement sessions and developing and sharing comms.
  • Helped with the planning and delivery of a Preparing for Adulthood Fair including developing and sharing comms, organisation of the day and organisation of a ‘marketplace’.
  • Supported the community engagement section of the SEND JSNA by organising a face to face and online engagement events, developed a ‘lived experience’ survey and promoted through comms.
  • Improvements made to the SEND Local Offer Your Say Southend page.
  • Development of the SEND Network including forging enhanced connections between network members.
  • Helping the new SEND Youth Participation Worker make valuable connections in the local community. Promotion of Southend SEND Youth Voice meetings and events.
  • Continued development of the SEND Newsletter.
  • Continued development of the look and feel of the SEND Local Offer and content on the website
  • Met with children and young people from a number of settings to find out what information they want on the SEND Local Offer.
  • Contributed to the development of a support guide for anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance.
