The 12-week programme is free and offers residents to choose a weight management plan to help you develop healthier eating habits, be more active and lose weight.

Did you know that losing 5% of your original body weight can significantly reduce your risk of serious health concerns, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, joint problems, mental health problems, and some cancers.

To help you lose weight NHS England has launched a new FREE Digital Weight Loss Programme that you can join without a referral from your GP. This programme is delivered over 12-week through flexible online support delivered through apps and websites.

This programme is available to mid and south Essex residents through NHS Mid and South Essex, who are a piloting the Digital Weight Management programme on behalf of NHS England.

Who can join the new programme?

The programme is available to all residents across mid and south Essex, if you can meet the following criteria:

  • You need be aged eighteen years or over.
  • Living with obesity BMI of 30 or above and 27 or above for people from Black and south Asian communities

Please note that you cannot join if you are pregnant, have an active diagnosed eating disorder, have had bariatric surgery in the last two years or recorded as having moderate or severe frailty. You will also need to have a mobile-phone number and an email address.
