A reminder that Verbo is available to support schools and EY providers across Southend with speech, language and communication support.
It is designed for teachers and classroom staff, as well as SENCos and Learning Support Assistants, and includes a wealth of practical training, videos, resources and screening tools to support communication in everyday classroom practice.
The Department for Education has recently released new training on speech, language and communication needs. While this provides a useful introduction, Verbo offers an extensive, ongoing library of practical resources that staff can revisit and apply directly in the classroom, alongside tools to help identify needs and monitor progress.
Schools do not need to use Verbo alone. The SEND Therapies team can support schools to make the most of the platform through teacher workshops, screener support and practical guidance on embedding strategies into classroom practice.
For parents and carers, it is useful to know that Verbo is one of the tools available to school staff in Southend to help them understand and support children’s speech, language and communication needs.
