Hamelin are Essex based Charity that works with young people and adults (age 16 plus) with Autism and learning disabilities.
We offer services that aim to integrate people in their communities, tackle loneliness and develop skills that reduce current and future reliance on social care services. This includes tailored learning disability support, including respite, day opportunities and guidance to help individuals and families feel more confident and connected.

Respite support
Our respite care services exist to give people a break from their home life and the people that care for their needs 24/7.
- The Bungalow in Wickford provides a safe, supportive lifetime home for people with significant disabilities.
- The Exchange in Billericay supports people with profound and multiple learning disabilities to explore the world around them through personalised, sensory led activities.
- Gowlands in Rochford provides short breaks and holiday stays for people with significant support needs.
Community support
Our community support services:
- Ability Works employment programme offering employability training and support for autistic adults and people with learning disabilities.
- Links Befriending - supporting autistic adults and people with learning disabilities across Essex to build friendships, confidence and independence through social groups and community activities.
- Life Skills - supporting people to build independence, confidence and practical skills for everyday life at home and in the community.
- Progressing into adulthood - support for autistic young people and people with learning disabilities to prepare for adult life.
- Roots and Shoots - a horticultural training project in Rochford supporting autistic people and adults with learning disabilities through outdoor training and work skills.
Hydrotherapy Pool
Our Hydrotherapy Pool in Rochford supports people to improve physical and mental wellbeing through therapeutic, accessible water based sessions.
