Southend in Sight is a local sight loss charity.
From our centre in Southend, we offer friendly support, practical advice and fun social events and activities to ensure that those living with sight loss can continue to lead indpedent, fulfilling and active lives.
Services available:
- advice, guidance and information, including advice and guidance to children, young people and their families living with sight loss
- social activities to suit all ages, and one off events
- hospital support - we have a full-time qualified Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) based at Southend Hospital Eye Clnic
- wellbeing and drop-in sessions

Social activities for children and young people and their families:
Southend in Sight are offering a programme of activities for children living with a visual impairment (severly sight impaired, blind or partially sighted) together to socialise, gain confidence and develop relationships with peers.
The offer includes:
- Kids Kingdom - a bi-monthly exclusive hire for children and their families to feel safe and included, make friends and have fun. Refreshments are included to give parents and carers a break.
- Arts and Crafts - a tailor made sensory arts and crafts session (including pottery) for children to enjoy a creative experience delivered by a trained practitioner in accessibility. Refreshements are provided to support parents and carers.
- Horse Riding - a unique session with Riding for the Disabled that the whole family can attend. Drinks and snacks provided after the activity.
- Ten Pin Bowling - a bowling session for children and their families with food provided.

Activities for children and young people are specifically for children and young people with a visual impairment.
- Cost

There will be no cost for the programme of childrens activities as the activity is supported by 2026/27 Short Breaks Main Access Grant funding from Southend-on-Sea City Council.
