Description

The Strength-Based Parenting (SBP) is a programme designed to support parent carers of neurodivergent children aged 4 to 11 years. Children do not need a formal diagnosis for parent carers to attend.

The programme has been developed by members of the Southend-on-Sea City Council Supporting Families Team.

Perhaps your child has been referred to the Lighthouse for an assessment, or maybe they have already received a diagnosis? Either way, the course will help you to understand your child's varied and complex behaviours and the best ways to respond to them.

Main topics covered include:

  • attachment
  • significant life events (trauma)
  • communication
  • anxiety

In week 1 you will help compile a list of things you'd like to know more about and we will do our best to cover these topics.
