Health4Life Programme - Children and Families Health

Health4Life is a free, informative, and supportive local programme developed at Southend-On-Sea City Council and is aimed 5 to 16-year-olds to help children and their families achieve and maintain healthy lifestyle choices.

The Health4Life Programme is a 6 week course (2 hours each week) run on a weekly basis at variation locations around Southend. Each week, different themes around healthy lifestyles are explored in a 1 hour workshop where we work with both children and adults offering tailored support and advice in making steps towards a healthier lifestyle. The service can also provide and signpost to a number of helpful resources. After the information workshop, Southend United Community Education Trust (SUCET) provide a 1 hour physical activity session for parents and children to join in.

Weekly topics can include:

• The Eatwell Guide
• Eating Out
• The importance of sleep
• Sugar and caffeine in drinks

The Health4Life Team can also support children on an individual basis if the Health4Life programme is not suitable.

Parents can get in contact with the Health4Life Team if they are concerned about their child's weight or would like further information.
