The Southend Mencap advocacy service has been in operation since 1999 and, over the years, it has grown into a much sought after and dependable service to people with learning disabilities within our support area of Southend, Rochford, Rayleigh and Castle Point.
The Southend Mencap Advocacy Service is for all people with a learning disability, age 15 plus. We can help with a wide range of issues including:
- benefits
- day services/access to other service
- accommodation
- employment
- choices e.g holidays
- conflict resolution within the immediate community
- understanding money/finance
- sexuality and relationships
In April 2025, the society secured the Southend City Council's Advocacy Contract working in partnership with South Essex Advocacy Services.
