Mushroom Theatre Company offers classes and workshops in dance, drama and singing for students and adults from ages 2 to any age at all (you are never too old!).
Our ethos of inclusion means that everyone is welcome in our classes, regardless of ability and openly encourage applicants from the SEND community. At Mushroom Theatre Company we believe in the therapeutic and social benefits of the Performing Arts and provide a safe and happy environment for children to grow and learn. We provide performance opportunities and examinations, although neither of these is compulsory.
Classes include: Ballet, Tap, Modern, Musical Theatre, Singing, Drama, Street Dance and Acrobatics.
Other actvities:
- Monthly Youth club (SHED) for ages 11 to 17.
- Peforming Arts Life Skills (PALS) - a group for adults with learning disabilities or difficulties
- Special Needs Musical Theatre - these classes explore the therapeutic benefits of performing arts. We use props, instruments and other sensory tools to engage the students in imaginative activities that promote confidence and wellbeing.

Special Needs Musical Theatre groups run on Saturdays 11.30am or 12.30pm and Wednesdays 4.30pm.
SEND Tap runs on Saturdays 1.30pm to 2pm.
SHED Youth Group runs on the first Friday of every month (£4 per session)
Performing Arts Life Skills (PALS) runs on Mondays and Wednesdays 9.30am to 3.30pm.
Summer holiday (2025) peforming arts themed workshops run every Tuesday and Thursday between 29 July and 28 August from 10am to 3pm (£20 per workshop). View details.

We are a preferred provider of Essex Short Breaks actives in the school holidays for children with SEND up to the age of 19. We are partially funded by Action for Children/ Essex Short Breaks.
Holiday workshops are supported by Southend-on-Sea City Council Short Breaks funding.
