We're proud and delighted to announce that the work of two Southend-on-Sea City Council teams, and the SEND Parent Carer Forum, has been shortlisted for the 2026 Council for Disabled Children 'What Works in SEND' Awards.

The SEND Local Offer Team and Southend SEND Independent Forum (SSIF) have been jointly shortlisted for 'Accessible and Inclusive Communications Strategy for SEND'. This award recognises excellence in clear, inclusive, and co-produced communication across the SEND system.

The SEND Therapies Team has been shortlisted for 'Partnerships for Inclusion – Local Authority and Schools'. This award recognises strong collaboration between local authorities and schools to embed inclusive practice and improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

Award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Birmingham on 23 April 2026.
