The Southend community vaccination event held on the 29th October at The Forum was a remarkable success.

Despite relentless downpours and dreadful weather conditions, Southend’s recent community vaccination event at The Forum Library was a remarkable success, with around 140 vaccinations delivered to residents of all ages.

The event provided protection against a wide range of vaccine-preventable diseases, with vaccinations administered for Flu, shingles, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), diphtheria, polio and tetanus (DPT/DPV), human papillomavirus (HPV), and meningococcal disease (MenACWY).

Hosted in partnership between Southend City Council Public Health, the Community and School Age Immunisation Service (CSAIS), and local community pharmacy, the event demonstrated the power of collaborative working to improve access to vital health services.

Vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to prevent serious illness and outbreaks. By offering multiple vaccines in one accessible location, the event made it easier for residents to stay protected and up to date with their immunisations.

The turnout, despite the heavy rain, reflects the community’s strong commitment to health and wellbeing. Organisers extended their thanks to all staff, volunteers, and attendees who braved the weather to make the event a success.
