Support and resources from Southend Libraries

Southend Libraries are welcoming places for all. As well as their extensive collection of standard books they also offer the following:

  • dyslexia friendly books (mainly published by Barrington Stokes)
  • situations Books (covering specific situations that children might be experiencing, such as dealing with anger issues, death, moving home and more)
  • spoken word books on CD
  • e-books and e-audiobooks available from BorrowBox that can be downloaded and read or listened to on a phone or tablet
  • reading Well for Teens books, to support the mental health and wellbeing of teenagers aged 13 to 18. A mixture of fiction and non-fiction titles are available
  • bag books (Sensory stories for people with severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities), available to borrow
  • dual language books (books that feature English and another language on the same page)

Relaxed sessions also run every Tuesday between 5 to 6pm at The Forum, providing a quieter experience for those with additional needs.
