Transitions from childrens services to adult services

This session covered the process of transition to adult services for young people supported by the Children with Disabilities Team and a summary of support for other young people with SEND as they move into adulthood.

It was delivered by Sharon Coleman and Jo Matthews from the Children with Disabilities Team, Kate Clarke, Southend-on-Sea City Council Preparing for Adulthood Advisor, and James Coyne and Jacqui Griffiths from the Adult Living Well Transitions Team.

Health information session - Decision making: young people with additional needs.

This session was delivered by Chelle Farnan - Safeguarding Clinical Lead, NHS England - East Region.

It covered the legal framework for consent, autonomy, The Mental Capacity Act, parental responsibility, Gllick Competence and Best Interest Decision Making

Collaboration Counts: Supporting your young person with SEND in education.

This session was delivered by Clair Warner, Head of the Specialist Teaching Service and Dr. Melanie Adkins, Principal Educational Psychologist.

The session covered how to get support for your child, what should your child be entitled to, what does SEN Support look like, does your child need an EHCP and resources.
