The Song School community is based in Southend. We offer a variety of music-making programmes for children and young people (CYP), regardless of their circumstances.
All can experience the benefits associated with participating in learning and playing, such as enhanced confidence, self-esteem, improved mental wellbeing, social skills, and employment and academic aspirations.
The Song School CIC exists "to create communities for music making, accessible for everyone regardless of circumstances".
We want to bring children and young people together from all circumstances to contribute to a more fair and understanding society and therefore our growing community is a welcoming space for all.
We exist to break down the barriers associated with learning music, including high tuition fees, access to instruments and practice spaces, plus environments where all children and young people can thrive. We want all to access the benefits that include improved confidence, self-esteem, mental wellbeing and educational aspirations and have developed three core aims for the communities we serve:
- "Contribute to creating a music industry that is reflective of its audience"
- "Be a beacon of change for the resilience of our young people, in society"
- "Support young people with neurodivergence to find their way in the world"
