Description

The School Admissions Team:

  • ensure compliance with the regulations on the process for ensuring all schools have a viable set of admission arrangements
  • offer a co-ordinated service for admissions into Reception, year 3 and year 7
  • manage admissions into all year groups at Community schools and for most primary schools that are their own admission authority
  • administer admission appeals for places at community schools and for most primary and secondary schools that are their own admission authority school
  • track and support families to ensure children out of school (not on a school roll) gain a school place.
  • follow up and report on children missing education
  • oversee and manage waiting lists
  • manage the catchment postcode directory

These services do not apply to pupils with an Education Health and Care Plan, who follow a different process and would need to contact the SEND Team via email SENTeam@southend.gov.uk
