Informal Carers
An informal carer supports someone without payment who
- is ill
- has a disability
- is elderly
- has mental health or substance misuse issues.
Support may include help with
- shopping
- cooking
- dealing with medication
- personal care
- attending medical appointments
The person cared for may live with you or in their own home.
The Care Act entitles all carers to a Social Care Assessment. This finds their support needs and how they will be met.
Southend-on-Sea City Council has more information on how you can get help.
