Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is a very brief intervention course designed to support and develop an understanding of public health and the factors that impact on a person’s health and wellbeing.
Many long-terms diseases in our population are closely linked to known behavioural risk factors. Around 40% of the UK’s disability adjusted life years lost are attributable to tobacco, hypertension, alcohol, being overweight or being physically inactive. The MECC approach recognises that staff across health and care, local authority and voluntary sectors have thousands of contacts every day with individuals and are ideally placed to support health and wellbeing.
A MECC interaction takes a matter of minutes and is not intended to add to existing busy workloads, rather it is structured to fit into and complement existing engagement approaches and can also give you the tools to improve our own health and wellbeing.
Everyone Health are offering a free MECC 1-hour healthy conversation skills training on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, from 10:00am until 11:00am. There are 30 spaces available.
